Finding Affordable Rental Housing in San Francisco

  • Affordable Housing

    There are thousands of affordable rental units in San Francisco built by nonprofit agencies who also manage these buildings.  The income requirements for these units can range from 20% of Area Median Income to 60% of Area Median Income. Find current available listings and apply online.

  • Inclusionary Housing

    There are over 1200 affordable rental units mixed into private buildings across San Francisco. Most of these units are typically available to households earning 55% or 60% of Area Median Income. Click here for more information.

  • Middle Income Housing Program

    The Middle Income Rental Program allows real estate developers a density bonus under Planning Code Section 124(f) if they provide units that are restricted at no more than 150% of State Median Income. MOHCD and the Planning Department monitor these units under the Inclusionary Procedures Manual.Click here for more information.

  • Public Housing
